Ceitidh Mac

Ceitidh Mac

Growing up in the wilds of Pembrokeshire before heading North, she’s been carving a name for herself across the North East and beyond. Ceitidh is pronounced Katie, spelt the Gaelic way. Think ceilidh with a T. Ceitidh Mac’s latest EP I Reach for the Pen received support and radio plays from the likes of BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 6 Music, and local/national support from BBC Introducing, being named as ‘BBC Introducing NE tips for 2022’. Rich synth hooks and subtle textures of the vibraphone combined with Ceitidh Mac’s singing/cello is a gloriously, unique sound. Her live show is an innovative take on traditional and alternative folk songs, sitting alongside her own original material which explores topics ranging from illuminating everyday experiences to subjects of deeper self reflection.

“Stunning lyrics and a genuine undertone gave me goose-bumps as Mac delicately created beautiful soundscapes through the cello”NARC magazine

She has also developed a style that is, in essence, Indie-Folk but infused with, in her own words, “the smoky style and lo-fi studio sound” and “a contemporary electronic edge, embellished by unusual instrumentation”. This is an artist whose own roadmap is clearly marked out. – Fresh on the Net

“Her live shows have that ineffable thing – call it a vibe, call it an atmosphere – that was very evident to anyone who saw her support Lankum at Sage Gateshead”The Crack

Marco Woolf

Marco Woolf

Influenced by the likes of Nick Drake and John Martyn, the music that Marco Woolf makes can prove similarly complex to categorise, his lyrics introspective and insightful – earning him a reputation as a self-evidently skilled storyteller – though thoughtful instrumentation too is just as crucial to his compositions, clearly considered to ensure it possesses comparable weight to his wording.

His latest release, Francine, I – a narrative-led EP issued via Phlexx Records in July 2021 – follows an African woman as she migrates West for the sake of her children and perfectly typifies the trademark one-two punch of tenderness that makes Marco’s music so transcendent. A limited 12″ run sold out within 24 hours and the release received positive reviews from several publications, including PAM (Pan African Music, a website dedicated to promoting music from the African continent and diaspora).

Maius Mollis

Maius Mollis

Maius Mollis is a North East based singer-songwriter making headway into her early career. Her debut single The Tide Turned was released with support from Both Sides Records and received comment from well-respected platforms, including responses from BBC Introducing, Echoes and Dust, and Come Play With Me.

Her work has been described as “a beautiful example of transforming vulnerability into art”.

Through restrained electric guitar accompaniment and commanding vocals Maius Mollis creates a space for emotional catharsis. Here she discusses current issues, the experience of living as a marginalised identity, mental health issues, and topics and challenges of millennials and Gen Z.
