Billy Nomates

Bold. Sharp. Dance away your inhibitions.
Billy Nomates is the alias of Bristol-based singer-songwriter Tor Maries, a fierce and fearless voice for the disillusioned and unheard. Her second album, CACTI, was a raw, emotionally charged follow-up to her acclaimed 2020 debut, navigating themes of self-sabotage, mental health, and resilience with sharp wit and honesty.
Known for her DIY approach and biting lyricism, Maries pairs minimal synths with powerful, personal storytelling, drawing on influences from punk to 80s pop. A former outsider in the industry, she found her way back to music after hitting rock bottom, channeling frustration into anthems of survival and defiance.
Praised by Iggy Pop and Florence Welch, and signed to Geoff Barrow’s Invada Records, Billy Nomates has become a standout chronicler of modern malaise, armed with cutting insight and unapologetic truth. Her third album Metalhorse is set for release on May 16 via Invada.
