What's happening in the music?
Moving and sublime, Michael Tippett’s A Child of Our Time is that rare thing – a non-religious choral work, and one that has come to be seen as one of the twentieth century’s masterpieces. Tippett uses a whole array of influences in his music, most notably African American spirituals, underlining the universality of the message, and giving what could be a very dark evening of music an underlying note of hope and unity. As part of our Share the Stage project, musicians and vocalists from across the North East join us on stage for an epic mass-participation experience.
