Royal Northern Sinfonia's Schumann Symphony Cycle

Bold. Colourful. As changeable as the British weather.
Revel in the glorious orchestral music of Robert Schumann (1810 – 1856) as Royal Northern Sinfonia present all five of his symphonies and the rarely heard choral masterpiece ‘Das Paradies und Die Peri’.
Schumann may be more famous today for his delicate piano miniatures or exquisite lieder (songs) but his orchestral music is fascinating – just as beautiful but bolder with an unpredictable drama that really makes you sit up and listen.
The symphonies are paired with great concertos by Schumann’s friends and contemporaries: Mendelssohn, Dvořák, Beethoven and Brahms.
‘Das Paradies und Die Peri’ is “the great masterpiece you’ve never heard” (Sir Simon Rattle). Once hugely popular, it’s up there with Mozart’s Requiem as one of the best choral works of all the time, and we can’t wait to hear it brought to life with Chorus of Royal Northern Sinfonia and a stellar cast of solo singers.
