The Glasshouse Staff Picks for Autumn 2024

Gruff Rhys and Bill Ryder Jones

Our latest gig guide featuring an Autumn packed with music is out now.

We’ve asked some of our team to tell us a bit about the shows they’re looking forward to the most from this guide. There’s a mix of returning favourites and new discoveries? Take a listen, book a ticket, and let us know what you’re looking forward to most…

“As a harp player myself, Mary Lattimore is a real icon for me. She skews and twists the acoustic beauty of the harp with electronic reverbs, delays and echoes. Her shows are dreamy, intimate and transportive – really one to lose yourself in. Can’t wait!”

Scott – Communications team

“Rioghnach Connolly & Honeyfeet’s sound is a blend of folk, jazz, blues and soul, and that always makes for a versatile and varied setlist. I saw them first in 2019 playing a special in-the-round acoustic show at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester. By the end of the gig I was beaming from ear to ear – their music is a riot of infectious rhythms, uplifting melodies and Rioghnach Connolly has the most memorable voice. I’d recommend everyone sees them at least once in their lifetime!”

Lucy – Senior Producer

“I’m super excited for Eddie Chacon in November! When I first heard that Eddie Chacon (from 90’s Pop duo ‘Charles & Eddie’) was working on a solo project, I was dubious to say the least…but then hearing the material and live sessions, especially his work with John Carrol Kirby, I was blown away! Unbelievably cool, virtuoso musicians, super chilled feel, even ethereal and other-worldly in places. I also personally love the stripped back and exposed vocal style Eddie has, mirroring equally delicate subject matter, this show is not to be missed! Would I lie to you, baby? *wink wink.”

Phil – Make Music team

“Expect the unexpected with Julian Lage who is a brilliant mix of the deliberate and wild. There is something about how ‘spare’ his music is and I love the fact he plays a Telecaster which might be surprising for jazz. He plays it for its bluntness and truth – I think this is plain to see in his performance which could only be improved if Margaret Glaspy were to join him on-stage! ”

Jo – Head of Contemporary Music

“Gruff and Bill feels like a match made in a psychedelic heaven. Gruff’s career with Super Furry Animals and as a solo artist and collaborator has seen him do everything from electronica to techno to indie disco floorfillers to garage rock…sometimes in the space of the same track. That Gruff has become friends with Bill is an absolute gift. Bill’s solo albums display a glorious lightness of touch; songs of confession and hope that can be stripped down to a whisper or surrounded by strings and still pack the same emotional punch. I’m delighted The Glasshouse has got a date on this co-headline tour.”
