Backstage Episode #41: Artist in Residence Rapasa Otieno
A passion for preserving the local indigenous music of western Kenya has brought vocalist and nyatiti player Rapasa Otieno to the north east of England where he is one of Sage Gateshead’s four artists-in-residence. Rapasa, who released his debut album Tipona earlier this year, introduces us to the nyatiti instrument and explains what he hopes to gain from his residency.
