Wind & Brass Programme

CAT 2025 - Wind and Brass main page

If you play a wind or brass instrument, this is the place to take your skills to the next level.

You’ll get one-to-one lessons, music language classes, and the chance to play in small groups—anything from duos to quintets. If jazz is your thing, you can also join JBCATS, our jazz ensemble led by James Birkett (Study Leader for Contemporary).

There are opportunities to audition for our larger ensembles, and many students explore a second instrument—we’re always happy to chat about what’s possible. You’ll also get to learn from top musicians in masterclasses and workshops with members of Royal Northern Sinfonia and visiting artists.

And of course, it’s all about performing. You’ll gain confidence through lunchtime concerts and take the stage at our Winter Wonders and Summer Celebration events, where we showcase everything our students have been working on.
