The thing I enjoy best about being part of the orchestra is… I suppose the best thing is getting to meet and work with some very inspiring musicians, and not all of them classical, years ago we did a very memorable and hilarious gig with Billy Bailey!

My pets are… Penelope the hamster and Freda the guinea pig. They are very enteraining and sweet but they don’t get on at all and would fight to the death if left alone together.

The last book I read was… The Crow Road by Iain Banks.

My heroine is… Mrs Doyle from the TV series Father Ted for being a dedicated and devoted advocate for the many benefits of a lovely cup of tea.

I would like to switch lives for a day with… a young Kate Bush so I can express myself through the medium of dance in footless tights and a leotard!

If I could go to any concert in history… I would pick the premiere of the Rite of Spring in Theatre des Champs-Elysees in Paris in 1913, where the audience are said to have rioted due to Stravinsky’s unsettling, modernist score and Nijinsky’s pagan-esque, anti-classical choreography.

My favourite place to visit in the North East is… the cycle path at Wallington Hall, preferably with my youngest son, who’s 12. It takes in lovely, far-reaching views of Northumberland, beautiful woodland and lots of wildlife.
