From your home at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, as a member of Royal Northern Sinfonia it’s your job to share the joy and wonder of orchestral music with thousands of people across the North of England – and beyond.

Our players
With Royal Northern Sinfonia, you’ll take part in rehearsals and performances everywhere from our main concert hall at The Glasshouse to festivals, churches and cathedrals and even breweries. The orchestra present seasons at regional venues including The Fire Station in Sunderland, Middlesbrough Town Hall, The Sands Centre in Carlisle and Westmorland Hall in Kendal.
Music education and creative learning runs through everything we do at The Glasshouse. As a member of the orchestra, you might support with informal chamber music performances and recitals in the community, masterclasses, coaching individuals and ensembles or engaging with our Make Music programme which includes a Centre for Advanced Training, two In Harmony Schools and Young Sinfonia.
We want all our musicians to play a full part in the orchestral and musical life of the region and see themselves as advocates for the orchestra and The Glasshouse.

About The Glasshouse
You’ll be based at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, an iconic building, designed by Foster + Partners, nestled on the banks of the River Tyne in Gateshead, overlooking Newcastle’s Quayside.
It’s a home for live music lovers – from diehard fans, aspiring artists, and tambourine-shaking toddlers to rock legends, pop icons, and our own acclaimed orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia. With top-notch gigs, concerts, and classes every week – in our own venue at Gateshead Quays, out in communities across the North East, and online – anyone can join us in creating and celebrating outstanding music. Whether you’re making it up or taking it in, you’ll find music lives and grows here.
